MORGANTOWN — No. 6 Oklahoma (11-1, 8-1 Big 12) beat No. 13 West Virginia (9-3, 6-3 Big 12) in an absolute thriller Friday night, 59-56.
Oklahoma and West Virginia both came out hot, ending the first quarter tied at 14. The Sooners would return a fumble for a touchdown right before the half to take a 35-28 lead into the locker room.
The Sooners had an opportunity to really put their foot on the Mountaineers throat, but an interception thrown by Kyler Murray in the back of the endzone would lead to West Virginia tying the game. The Mountaineers would also take a 42-38 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Sooners and Mountaineers would go back and forth to start the fourth quarter, ad when Oklahoma was up 52-49 with just nine minutes to play, Curtis Bolton made the play of the game. Bolton would scoop and score on a 48-yard fumble return for a touchdown. West Virginia would cut the game to three with four minutes to play, but an on-side kick recovery and a fourth down conversion would seal a 59-56 victory.
